The World Cricket Council announced that the sport of cricket will return to the global competition stage after a 128-year absence at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
The event will be held in a 20-over format and 90 players will compete in six teams, including men’s and women’s teams, in July 2028.
Cricket’s last appearance at the Olympics was in 1900 in Paris, where Great Britain and France competed in the sport.
This decision marks a milestone for the global expansion of cricket and attracting new audiences to the world’s largest sporting venue.
