Russia’s drone attacks on Ukraine set new record: 728 drones in one night
According to a report by the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia carried out its largest drone attack against Ukraine on the night of July 8, 2025, firing 728 drones of various types, including witness and imitation attack drones, along with 13 cruise and ballistic missiles at the country.
The attack, which Ukrainian officials said mainly targeted the city of Lutsk in western Ukraine, was met with a strong response from Ukrainian air defenses.
According to the Ukrainian Air Defense, out of a total of 741 air targets, including 728 drones and 13 missiles, 718 targets were shot down or neutralized, including 296 drones destroyed, 415 drones lost on radar or disrupted by electronic warfare, and all 7 Iskander-101Kh cruise missiles.
However, six Kh-47M2 Kinzhal ballistic missiles bypassed defense systems and caused unspecified damage, and the Ukrainian defense success rate in this operation was reported to be 96.89.
