Landslide at Geelong border port; 17 people missing

On the morning of Tuesday, July 8, 2025, a landslide occurred at the Jilong border port located in the Chinese Guizhou Autonomous Region bordering Nepal, resulting in the disappearance of at least 11 people on the Chinese side and 6 Chinese nationals on the Nepalese side.

The incident occurred around 5 a.m. local time, and local authorities announced that search and rescue operations had begun on both sides of the border.

No further information has been released about casualties or infrastructure damage.
