Russia and Ukraine exchange prisoners of war

Russia and Ukraine have begun the process of exchanging hundreds of prisoners of war, based on an agreement reached between representatives of the two countries earlier this month, and the first group of Russian prisoners under the age of 25 have been transferred to Belarus and are receiving medical treatment.

The Ukrainian president has also confirmed that some prisoners who had been held in Russian captivity since the beginning of the war have been released.

The released Ukrainian citizens were also taken to a hospital in northern Ukraine for medical examination after returning to their country.

The Ukrainian president reportedly said that at this stage, the injured included the seriously injured and those under the age of 25. The exchange process will last more than a day. The details of this process are very sensitive, so we are not releasing much information at this time.

While neither side has announced the exact number of prisoners exchanged at this stage, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that an equal number of military personnel from each side were exchanged.
