Canadian PM invites Modi to G7 summit

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has invited his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi to attend the upcoming Group of Seven (G7) summit in a phone call.

The talks, held on Friday (16th of Gemini), come as the two countries are trying to repair tense relations of the past years.

The Canadian Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement saying that Carney and Modi agreed to remain in touch and meet on the sidelines of the G7 summit.

In a message on X Network, Narendra Modi thanked the Canadian Prime Minister for the invitation and wrote that India and Canada will resume their cooperation with mutual respect and shared interests.

This comes as India-Canada relations soured after Ottawa accused Delhi of involvement in the murder of a Sikh separatist leader and of interfering in the recent elections.
