Bus overturns in Colombia, killing 10 people

At least 10 people have been killed and 11 others injured after a bus carrying students and professors overturned in western Colombia.

The incident occurred on the highway between the cities of Tolima and Quindio in the west of the country, AFP reported on Sunday, May 25.

According to a report by Colombian police, the driver lost control of the bus and the vehicle veered off the road near the Helicoil Bridge in the Quindio region.

According to police chief Luis Fernando Atvista, several passengers were thrown out of the bus when it hit a barrier next to the bridge and fell into the ravine.

The bus was carrying 26 passengers, including 22 students, two professors, and a communications employee from Humboldt University in Armenia, Colombia.
