Ukraine and Europe agree on a 30-day unconditional ceasefire

Ukraine and the European Union announced in a joint statement that the two sides have agreed on a complete and unconditional ceasefire starting Monday for at least 30 days.

The statement emphasized that any Russian request for terms would be seen as an attempt to prolong the war and weaken the diplomatic track.

The two sides have also emphasized the need for an effective monitoring mechanism for the successful implementation of the ceasefire and said that this can only be achieved through close coordination with the United States.

In the continuation of the statement, the strengthening of the Ukrainian forces is considered the first guarantee of the sovereignty and security of this country.

Ukraine and the European Union have warned that if Russia refuses to accept an unconditional ceasefire, sanctions should be imposed on the country’s banking and energy sectors.
