The impeached president of South Korea was released

South Korean judges released Yoon Suk-yeol, who was impeached and arrested after the declaration of martial law, on Saturday, a day after his arrest warrant was lifted.

In a statement after his release, Mr. Yun thanked the support of Korean citizens, especially his supporters, and a number of Korean people had come to welcome the deposed president.

His release took place after the Seoul Central Court canceled his arrest warrant for technical and legal reasons, and this Korean politician was detained since January.

Previously, Yoon caused a great shock to the country by declaring martial law in South Korea and caused Korean lawmakers to vote for his impeachment and remove him.

The former president’s position is still suspended, and the Constitutional Court of Korea will soon decide whether Yoon will return to the presidency or step down permanently.
