The resignation of Suleiman Franjieh in favor of Joseph Aoun in the election of the President of Lebanon

Suleiman Faranjieh, the head of the Al-Morde movement, announced that now that the conditions for the election of the president have been met, and considering the events that have happened, I announce my withdrawal from running for the presidency.

Franjieh noted that I support General Joseph Aoun, the commander of the army, who has the characteristics of holding the position of president; I wish the parliament success in the election process and hope that the country will pass this stage with unity, awareness and responsibility.

It is planned that the representatives of the Lebanese parliament will hold a meeting today, Thursday 9th of January, to elect the president of this country.
