Xi Jinping and Lukashenko meet in Beijing, emphasizing expansion of China-Belarus relations

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Beijing on Monday at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, China Central Television reported.

Although the details of these talks have not been published, the meeting comes at a time when Belarus is trying to expand its political, economic, and strategic cooperation with China.

Lukashenko, who has held power in Belarus since 1994, has established close ties with Beijing in recent years. Belarus has become one of Russia’s main allies during the war in Ukraine and has also hosted Russian strategic missile systems.

The meeting comes as China continues to emphasize its neutrality in the Ukrainian war, but Western countries have repeatedly accused Beijing of indirectly supporting Moscow.
