NATO condemns violation of Romanian airspace by Russian drone

NATO has condemned the violation of Romanian airspace by a Russian drone and warned that all members of the alliance are under threat.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has emphasized that NATO is ready to defend every inch of member states’ territory and will continue to strengthen its deterrence against the threat of Russian drones.

According to reports, a drone crashed on the roof of a 10-story residential building in the city of Galati during Russia’s overnight attack on Ukraine, injuring a number of civilians.

This is the first time a drone has crashed in a populated area in Romania, an incident that could increase tensions on NATO’s eastern flank.

Romania, a member of NATO and the European Union, shares about 650 kilometers of land border with Ukraine.
