Russia and China are collaborating on the development of a 16-ton heavy helicopter
Russia and China are developing a new generation heavy helicopter as part of a joint project that will be designed to suit China’s needs.
Viktor Kladov, director of international cooperation at RusTech, said that the project could become a major achievement once it enters the market.
According to reports, this helicopter will have a payload capacity of between 14 and 16 tons, a capacity that is greater than the Mi-171 helicopter and less than the Mi-26.
In this project, the Chinese company Avicopter is responsible for the main design, and the Russian company RusTech is responsible for the development of parts such as the gearbox and power transmission system.
The project is said to have passed the government evaluation stage in China and entered the path of joint production.
