Zardari: Presence of militants in Afghanistan has increased the threat to global peace

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has warned that the presence of militant groups in Afghanistan poses a serious threat to global peace and security.

Zardari made the remarks in a statement released on Sunday, thanking world leaders for expressing solidarity with Pakistan following the recent deadly attack on a Shia mosque in Islamabad.

He emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to the resolute fight against terrorism and that no country can confront this threat alone.

Zardari stated that whenever terrorist groups are given space, facilities or immunity beyond national borders, innocent civilians around the world will bear the consequences.

The Pakistani president further claimed that the current situation in Afghanistan under the rule of the Islamic Emirate has created conditions “similar” or worse than before the 9/11 attacks, and that this situation has affected security developments in the entire region.
