Pakistan ratifies joint defense agreement with Saudi Arabia

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan has announced that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have completed the process of ratifying the joint defense agreement known as the “Mecca Military Agreement”.

In response to a question about why Pakistan, unlike Turkey, has not submitted this agreement to the parliament for ratification, he said that based on the legal framework and domestic laws of Turkey, the ratification of this agreement by the parliament of that country is necessary; but Pakistan and Saudi Arabia do not need such a process and have completed the stages of ratification of the agreement.

The spokesperson for the Pakistani Foreign Ministry emphasized that each country follows its own legal and constitutional procedures to ratify international agreements.

The Pakistani government has not yet published the text of this military agreement.

It has not been submitted to the Turkish parliament; this text was published in the media after the agreement was presented to the Turkish parliament and became available to the public, but Haider Khan, in response to questions, confirmed the authenticity of the published text.
