During a campaign trip to Texas and Oklahoma, US President Donald Trump urged Republican supporters to take the November midterm elections seriously and said that if the Republicans lose, the Democrats will move to impeach him. These statements are consistent with similar positions taken by Trump in recent months.
“Please imagine that I’m the candidate, because I’m actually on the ballot. If we don’t win, they’re going to impeach me,” Trump told his supporters.
In another part of his speech about Iran, he said that Tehran wants an agreement, but if this agreement does not lead to practical commitments, Washington may refuse to make an agreement.
Meanwhile, Democratic member of the US House of Representatives, Ro Canna, has said that if Democrats take back the House of Representatives, a review and possible impeachment of Trump for a third time could be on the agenda; in an interview with BBC News, she considered this action related to the president’s accountability and upholding the Constitution.
Canna also said that issues such as entering into war without constitutional authorization, dismissing government employees against the will of Congress, and dealing with foreign governments for personal gain are among the cases that, according to him, could be the basis for impeachment.
