The European Commission says that one year after the 6.3-magnitude earthquake in eastern Afghanistan, many affected families still need help to rebuild their homes and livelihoods.
In the earthquake of August 31, 2025, nearly two thousand people, more than half of whom were children, died. UNICEF, with the support of the European Union, also delivered 130 tons of emergency aid to Afghanistan.
The European Commission has emphasized that continued humanitarian assistance, access to health services and education for children, and support for affected families are essential to improve the situation and increase their resilience.
