Bahrain court to rule on fate of 60 Shiite scholars today
According to a report by human rights organizations, the Supreme Court of the State of Bahrain is scheduled to issue a ruling on Sunday (8th of November ) regarding the fate of 60 Shiite scholars and clerics and 9 others.
These individuals face charges including forming an opposition group to attempt to overthrow the Bahraini political system, charges that their defense lawyers and families have vehemently denied.
At the same time, 20 human rights organizations, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, have called the trial process unfair and expressed concern about torture, forced confessions, and violations of the Shiite clerics’ right to a fair trial.
