The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement condemning the US military attack on parts of Lark Island, saying that the attack was carried out in violation of Iran’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and that a number of Iranian defenders and citizens were killed and injured.
The statement said that in response to this attack and within the framework of the “inherent right of self-defense,” the Iranian armed forces targeted US military bases in Jordan, which Tehran considers the origin and support of the attack on Iran.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry called the US attack on Lark a violation of Article 2, Paragraph 4, of the United Nations Charter and called on the Security Council and the Secretary-General of the organization to take action to maintain international peace and security and hold the attacker accountable.
Tehran has also claimed that the actions of the United States and the Israeli regime are the main factor in making shipping insecure in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, and has emphasized that the Iranian armed forces will respond decisively and proportionately to any military aggression.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has placed the responsibility for the consequences of recent US actions and the continuation of the naval blockade and economic war against the country on Washington and the parties that cooperate or participate in these actions with the US.
