51 people arrested in Türkiye on charges of ISIS links and financing
The Turkish Ministry of Interior has announced that the country’s security forces have arrested 51 people in a wide-ranging operation in 16 cities on charges of having links to ISIS and financing the group.
These operations were carried out in the cities of Adana, Adiyaman, Balikesir, Bursa, Diyarbakir, Dozce, Edirne, Gaziantep, Igdir Kayseri, Mardin, Mersin, Nevsehir, Sinop, Sanliurfa and Zonguldak.
According to the Turkish Ministry of Interior, a number of those arrested were members of ISIS and had provided funding for the group through related individuals and so-called charitable institutions, and had also been promoting ISIS on social media.
Turkey has carried out extensive operations against ISIS and other armed groups at home and abroad in recent years. Turkish officials say these efforts will continue to prevent the activities and financing of terrorist groups.
