Asian Development Bank President: We are expanding support for the people of Afghanistan

Masato Kanda, President of the Asian Development Bank, says that the bank will expand its support for the people of Afghanistan with a new approach and will focus on continuing essential services, strengthening community resilience, and creating livelihood opportunities.

Kanda said on social media X that the Asian Development Bank has been supporting the people of Afghanistan since 2022 through its trusted partners in the areas of food security, health and education.

He added that as humanitarian needs increase and conditions become more fragile, the bank will continue to provide assistance to the people of Afghanistan and will strive to monitor and respond effectively to the aid delivery process.

According to Kanda, women will also particularly benefit from these supports through initiatives implemented under women’s leadership.
