US President Donald Trump said in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly that he expects Washington and Tehran to reach an agreement after the US midterm elections; he claimed that Iran has rejected US proposals for an agreement.
Trump called Iran the “largest state sponsor of terrorism” and said Washington would not allow Tehran to obtain a nuclear weapon; he also claimed that the US had targeted and destroyed Iran’s nuclear facilities in 2025.
The US President said that Iran was offered economic cooperation in exchange for ending its nuclear program and supporting armed groups, but Tehran has not accepted the offer. Trump also called on countries to cooperate with the US in applying economic pressure on Iran.
Regarding the war in Ukraine, Trump also said that the conflict would be resolved faster than many expected, but he did not provide a specific time frame for the end of the war.
In another part of his speech, the US President claimed that the United States has become stronger than ever and praised his administration’s performance in the security, energy, and economic sectors. He also threatened that the US would use military force to defend its interests in the Western Hemisphere.
