Media:Pentagon considers withdrawing one-third of US troops from Europe

A Western media outlet has reported, citing several American officials, that the US Department of Defense is considering a plan to withdraw aircraft, ships, military equipment, and about 25,000 American troops from Europe, a move that could reduce the US military presence on the continent by about a third.

If implemented, this would be the largest reduction in the US military presence in Europe since the end of the Cold War.

This possibility has raised concerns in some European capitals, especially as tensions continue between Russia and NATO member states.

The Kremlin has repeatedly stated that Russia is not a threat to any country, but has emphasized that it will not ignore actions that threaten its security and interests.
