100kg World War II bomb discovered in Berlin, thousands evacuated
Workers discovered a 100-kilogram aerial bomb from World War II in the Neukölln canal in Berlin, prompting the evacuation of thousands of residents in the surrounding area.
Berlin police have created a 500-meter radius security zone, affecting about 5,600 families, and more than 200 police and rescue forces are involved in evacuation and security operations.
Officials have announced that the bomb will be defused on site and that evacuation and decontamination operations may continue until the early hours.
