After the United States removed Syria from its list of state sponsors of terrorism, Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa (Mohammed al-Julani) thanked US President Donald Trump for the decision.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian interim government has also welcomed this move by Washington, calling it an important development and the beginning of a new page in the country’s international relations. The ministry has called for deepening strategic cooperation and expanding relations with the United States.
After a period of review, the United States officially removed Syria from its list of state sponsors of terrorism, a move that American officials said was aimed at facilitating investment and Syria’s return to the international economic system.
This decision was made following political changes in Syria and the country’s new government’s efforts to improve relations with Western countries. In the same process, the United States has also removed the name of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group from its list of global terrorist organizations.
