Reports indicate that Russian forces have targeted a train depot in the Darnytsia district of Kiev, an attack that has resulted in the destruction of several locomotives and severe damage to the depot’s facilities.
This attack comes as Ukraine previously announced that Russia has destroyed or damaged more than 200 of its locomotives since the beginning of 2026, and attacks on railway infrastructure have intensified.
The attack on railway infrastructure has put further strain on Ukraine’s transportation network and logistical capacity. Reports on the incident have also warned of the possibility of losing more than 50 percent of Ukraine’s locomotive fleet by 2027.
