US President Donald Trump has claimed that US forces currently have complete control of the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews, Trump said the situation with Iran was “going very well and the U.S. Navy has control of this important waterway.”
Expressing distrust of Iran, he added that Tehran had repeatedly “lied” to him and emphasized that it did not trust Iranian officials.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important oil and energy transport routes in the world, and any disruption to ship traffic in this waterway could affect global energy markets.
