A massive wildfire broke out in eastern Washington state, forcing thousands of people to flee their homes, following strong winds gusting to more than 70 kilometers per hour.
The Associated Press reported that the “Old Trails” fire began around noon Saturday and quickly spread to residential areas after burning grasslands and bushes. As residents evacuated, cars lined up on exits and flames were visible from highways.
Local authorities issued the highest level of evacuation alert, urging residents to leave the area immediately, and city bus lines were put on standby to facilitate the transportation of people.
