US and Saudi Arabia target Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces positions with airstrikes

The US and Saudi Arabian military conducted joint airstrikes against Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) positions in several Iraqi provinces this morning.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that these attacks were carried out in response to alleged drone attacks from Iraqi soil against Saudi oil facilities; Iraqi sources have also reported that the provinces of Wasit, Nineveh, Basra, Babylon and Najaf were targeted in these attacks.

Following this incident, the Yemeni Ansarullah political office issued a statement condemning the joint US and Saudi attacks, calling them a violation of Iraqi sovereignty and contrary to international law.

Ansar Allah, while declaring solidarity with the Iraqi people, emphasized the right of the country’s government, army, and resistance forces to respond to these attacks and called on the United Nations to act responsibly in response to developments in the region.
