US Vice President: Critics of Iran talks previously called for more bombing of Afghanistan

In his speech on talks with Iran, US Vice President JD Vance said that those who criticize the current US administration for negotiating with Tehran are the same people who previously wanted Washington to carry out more airstrikes in countries like Afghanistan.

Speaking at an air base in Virginia to mark the approaching 250th anniversary of America’s independence and to honor the country’s armed forces, Vance said: “What I’ve noticed about the critics of the negotiations is that they are the same people who were encouraging us to drop a few more bombs on places like Afghanistan.”

The US vice president added that those who supported further strikes in the past were never willing to explain what the ultimate goal of these bombings was.

Vance’s statements come at a time when the US government’s dialogue and approach towards Iran continue to face different reactions and criticisms within the country.
