Tourist car overturns and catches fire on Islamabad-Mary highway, 10 killed, 13 injured

Pakistani officials have announced that at least 10 people have been killed and 13 others injured after a bus carrying tourists overturned and caught fire on the Islamabad-Murray highway.

According to a report by the Dawn newspaper, the incident occurred in the Khajut area and the vehicle was carrying 23 members of a family from Multan who were traveling to Mary for recreation.

According to Agha Zahir Abbas Shirazi, Deputy District Governor of Marri, the car was traveling at high speed and had an accident after hitting a wall on the side of the road. As a result of the collision, the engine compartment of the car caught fire and its door locked, trapping the passengers inside the car.

The highway police also announced that the car veered off the road while passing a bend and fell into a valley. Ten children were among the victims.
