At least 12 killed in deadly South African shooting
In one of the deadliest recent shootings in South Africa, at least 12 people died on Tuesday night in the Jumpers informal settlement in the Cleveland area of Johannesburg.
According to police, more than 10 armed men entered the town in a white Toyota and opened fire on residents from two different directions.
According to local media reports, nine men and three women were killed in the attack and at least nine others were injured.
The attackers fled the scene after about an hour of shooting, and no one has been arrested in connection with the incident so far.
Police have announced that the motive for the attack is still unclear and investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators.
The incident has once again raised concerns about the spread of gun violence and illegal weapons activity in South Africa.
