Entropy calls for temporary halt to development of cutting-edge AI systems
Entropic, the company that develops cloud-based artificial intelligence models, has warned that some new models show signs of potentially spiraling out of human control and has suggested that development of the world’s most powerful artificial intelligence systems be temporarily halted.
The company has emphasized that a global, verifiable agreement between countries like the United States and China is needed to safely manage this technology so that societies can adapt to the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence.
Entropy also announced that the human role in the development of artificial intelligence is significantly decreasing, and the company’s engineers are now generating eight times more code with the help of the cloud than in the period 2021 to 2025.
Researchers have warned that in the future, artificial intelligence may reach a stage where it can train itself and continuously become smarter without the need for human intervention.
