The Public Relations Department of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran has announced that following attacks attributed to American forces against an Iranian oil tanker and a telecommunications mast south of Qeshm Island, the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet and an air base and helicopter base in the region have been targeted by missile and drone attacks.
The statement said that an Iranian tanker near the Strait of Hormuz was targeted by an airstrike and suffered damage to its engine room.
The IRGC has also emphasized that in response to this incident, it targeted an American vessel in the region and, after another attack on a telecommunications tower in southern Qeshm, it has carried out new attacks against American military positions.
The statement further emphasized that any action against the security of the Strait of Hormuz will be met with a more severe response, and the other side will be responsible for its consequences.
