Russian oil transfer to Afghanistan begins via rail route and Iranian Caspian port

Iranian media have reported that for the first time, the process of transferring oil from Russia to Afghanistan has begun via the Caspian Sea port and railway line.

According to these reports, in the first phase, about five thousand tons of Russian oil will be transported to Afghanistan via this route.

Anzali Free Zone officials have said that this project can play an important role in reducing logistics costs and facilitating the process of energy transfer between countries in the region.

According to these officials, the use of rail and sea transport can also reduce some of the environmental challenges caused by transporting oil by truck on land routes.

This move is being evaluated within the framework of developing transit and economic cooperation between Russia, Iran, and Afghanistan, but officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan have not yet made an official comment on this matter.
