French authorities have arrested six pro-Palestinian activists after they raised the Palestinian flag atop the Eiffel Tower in central Paris.
This protest action coincided with the anniversary of the “Nakbat Day,” and the activists were able to reach the roof of a restaurant on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower and install a large Palestinian flag.
According to reports, these individuals are currently in temporary detention and their legal cases will be reviewed in the future.
The protest coalition “Extinction Rebellion” has claimed responsibility for this action and announced that this movement was carried out in protest of the situation in Gaza and on the occasion of Nakba Day.
Nakba Day refers to the events that occurred in 1948, coinciding with the formation of the state of Israel, when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were displaced from their homes and lands.
