Iraqi Parliament Votes in Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi’s Government

The Iraqi House of Representatives voted in favor of the country’s new government, headed by Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, and its ministerial program.

Parliament members also approved Fuad Hussein by a majority vote as the country’s new foreign minister.

Ali Falih al-Zaidi officially took office as Prime Minister of Iraq after being sworn in.

According to reports, 14 ministers in Al-Zaidi’s cabinet have so far received a vote of confidence, and consultations are ongoing to fill 23 cabinet seats.

Al-Zaidi, who previously headed the Islamic Bank of the South, is considered the youngest prime minister in Iraqi history at the age of 40.

He has said that he will try to make Iraq a balanced country on the regional and international levels.
