US cancels plan to deploy more than 4,000 troops to Poland

American media outlets have reported, citing US military officials, that the US Department of War has canceled plans to deploy more than 4,000 military troops to Poland.

This decision comes after the Donald Trump administration pursues a policy of reducing the presence of American troops in European countries, including Germany.

According to Defense News, the 2nd Armored Battalion of the 1st US Cavalry Division was to be deployed to Poland and eastern NATO regions along with military equipment.

American officials have said that the program has now been suspended; there are currently about 10,000 American troops in Poland.
