The bilateral meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping began at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
At the beginning of the meeting, Xi Jinping said that he was eager to discuss and exchange views with Trump on important bilateral and international issues.
The Chinese president emphasized that the common interests between China and the United States outweigh the differences between the two countries, adding: “The whole world is watching this meeting.”
In turn, Donald Trump expressed hope that relations between Washington and Beijing would be “better than ever.”
Reports indicate that economic issues, bilateral trade, and the Iran war are among the main topics of the meeting.
