Donald Trump has announced that a “humanitarian” operation will begin on Monday to secure the passage of commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced the start of military support for this plan, saying that this operation will be carried out with the presence of equipped destroyers, more than 100 aircraft, and about 15,000 military personnel to ensure freedom of navigation.
According to this plan, American forces will be tasked with supporting commercial ships and will also provide ships with information on safe sea routes.
On the other hand, Axios media reported, citing an official, that US Navy ships are being deployed near the area to prevent possible attacks if necessary.
At the same time, Iranian officials have warned against this action and emphasized that any US intervention in the Strait of Hormuz could be considered a violation of the ceasefire.
These developments are taking place while tensions in the Persian Gulf and vital energy transport routes remain at a high level.
