Britain reports attack on ship near Qatar

The UK Maritime Trade Operations Centre (UKMTO) announced that a merchant ship in the Persian Gulf waters about 7.4 kilometers east of Ras Laffan, Qatar, was targeted by a missile from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran.

According to the UKMTO report, all crew members are safe and unharmed. The ship is currently in an unstable condition.

The British body advised all ships to pass through the area with extreme caution, and local Qatari authorities are closely investigating the incident.

Earlier, Reuters reported a similar incident 11 miles east of Khor Fakkan, UAE, in which a merchant ship was targeted by precision missile strikes and caught fire.

These incidents occur at a time when tensions in the Persian Gulf have reached a peak and maritime traffic near key facilities such as Ras Laffan is associated with risks to life and property.
