Oil tanker targeted near Sharjah port in UAE

Arab sources reported that a commercial oil tanker was attacked near the port of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.

According to initial information, the attack was carried out by a drone or missile and resulted in a fire in one of the tanks or on the ship’s deck.

Thick black smoke rose from the scene of the incident, and Sharjah Port’s fire and rescue teams rushed to contain the fire and rescue the crew.

Exact details of the type of ship, its ownership, the extent of damage and possible casualties have not yet been released, but informed sources believe it is linked to Iran’s retaliatory operations in response to recent aggressions.

The Port of Sharjah is one of the UAE’s important commercial and oil hubs, and this incident could have a significant impact on shipping traffic in the Persian Gulf.
