Uzbekistan and Afghanistan set $5 billion target for bilateral trade

Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojayev announced that the two countries are pursuing the goal of increasing bilateral trade volume to $5 billion.

According to him, this figure was raised during a video conference with Afghan Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi.

Khojayev added that in the past five years, trade between the two countries has grown 2.5 times, from $653 million in 2021 to about $1.7 billion in 2025.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan also reported on the discussion on practical steps to expand trade and economic cooperation and preparations for the visit of the Afghan delegation to Uzbekistan.

He emphasized that after the month of Ramadan, cooperation will be strengthened in practice through holding a business forum in Kabul and developing a roadmap with specific axes.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has not yet commented on this matter.
