Amnesty International is deeply concerned about civilian casualties in Pakistani attacks on Nangarhar and Paktika

Amnesty International’s South Asia office has issued a statement expressing deep concern over the civilian casualties in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces following recent Pakistani airstrikes.

The human rights organization emphasized that this incident must be investigated in a transparent, independent, and impartial manner to determine responsibility and ensure justice for the victims.

Amnesty International called on both Pakistan and Afghanistan to avoid harming civilians and to adhere to the principles of protecting civilians in conflict, in accordance with their obligations under international humanitarian law.

This statement was issued while initial reports indicated that dozens of civilians, including women and children, were killed and injured in the bombing of residential areas and a religious school.
