Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov: American companies can join TAPI project; completion to Herat by end of 2026

Turkmenistan’s national leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow announced in an interview with Al Arabiya that international companies, including American companies, can join the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.

He emphasized that the TAPI project should overcome long-standing tensions between Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India and has enormous potential to provide energy to the growing South Asia.

Berdimuhamedov added: This project, which enjoys international support, including from the United States, opens promising avenues for access to emerging markets in Asia-Pacific, the Near East and the Middle East, and is of great importance for the political stability and economic prosperity of the region.

He also announced that the first section of the TAPI pipeline to the city of Herat will be completed by the end of 2026, although no plans have yet been announced for its expansion to southern Pakistan and India.
