Protesters in Munich :demand end to arms shipments to Ukraine and start of peace talks

On the sidelines of the 2026 Munich Security Conference and NATO-related meetings, hundreds of German citizens and social activists held a protest rally in downtown Munich to challenge Western policies toward the war in Ukraine.

Carrying placards with slogans such as “Make peace, not the Munich war conference,” the protesters called for an immediate halt to the shipment of weapons to Ukraine and the start of peace talks with Russia.

They emphasized that continued military support for Kiev would only prolong the war and increase insecurity in Europe and the world, and called on the leaders present at the conference to replace the arms approach with the path of diplomacy.

This gathering, which was held in Munich with the participation of senior political and military officials, including the foreign and defense ministers of Western countries, the president of Ukraine, and other leaders, reflects the dissatisfaction of a portion of German public opinion with NATO’s current policies in the Ukrainian crisis.

The organizers of these protests described the Munich Security Conference as a “war conference” rather than a platform for peace
