US Deputy Secretary of State: Review of Washington’s policy towards Afghanistan continues
On Wednesday, US Deputy Secretary of State S. Paul Kapoor announced at a meeting of the US House of Representatives Subcommittee on Foreign Affairs that the review of the country’s policy towards Afghanistan by various government agencies is still ongoing.
He emphasized that the process would include examining numerous issues related to Afghanistan, but could not provide a specific timeline for its completion, pledging only to keep lawmakers informed of progress.
These statements come at a time when US President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized the manner in which the military withdrew from Afghanistan during the Joe Biden era, calling the decision to leave Bagram Air Base and leave behind military equipment one of the major weaknesses of that era.
