Death toll from explosion at Hazrat Khadija Kubra Mosque in Islamabad rises sharply; 31 martyred and 169 injured
Al Jazeera reported, citing police in the Pakistani capital (Islamabad), that the death toll from the explosion at the Hazrat Khadija Kubra Grand Mosque this afternoon (Friday, February 7) has increased sharply.
According to the latest official statistics announced by the Islamabad police, at least 31 people were killed and 169 others were injured in this terrorist explosion.
The incident occurred during Friday prayers, and security and rescue forces are still at the scene, and search and rescue operations are ongoing.
Pakistani authorities have strongly condemned the attack and have launched an immediate investigation to identify the perpetrators and their support network. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the explosion.
