Chinese investment to produce 400 megawatts of electricity from coal in Afghanistan

The Afghanistan Breshna Company announced that Chinese investors are investing in the production of about 400 megawatts of electricity from coal in Kabul and some provinces.

Alhaj Mullah Abdul Haq Hammar, CEO of Breshna Company, assured Mr. Luo Zhongchuan, Head of the Afghan China Yuchang Consortium (AYCC) and the Chinese delegation, that all necessary conditions for investment in the electricity generation sector have now been provided and investors can operate in this field and build infrastructure with complete confidence.

The Chinese company official also announced his readiness to invest and said that in addition to the 60-megawatt coal-fired power generation project in Kabul, another project with a capacity of 320 megawatts in Takhar province is also in the investment plan. He also added that work on the 60-megawatt Kabul project will begin in the first phase.

It is worth noting that the completion of these projects will provide a major part of the country’s electricity needs and pave the way for the growth of industry, trade, and the national economy.
