Joseph Aoun: We will not allow Lebanese soil to become a battlefield for others
In light of the continued Israeli attacks on the south of the country and the violation of the ceasefire, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun emphasized that he will not turn Lebanese soil into a battlefield for others.
According to Al Jazeera, referring to the effort to clear the south of the Litani River of illegal weapons, he stated that we are returning Lebanon to its natural position within the framework of international and Arab legitimacy. We have achieved an achievement that Lebanon has not experienced in the past 40 years. What the government has achieved in terms of monopolizing weapons in the hands of the government is no small achievement.
The Lebanese President also emphasized that his country is peace-loving and that there are no signs that portray Lebanon as a war-loving or aggressive country.
These statements come as tensions continue in southern Lebanon, and discussions about the full implementation of a ceasefire and the disarmament of unofficial armed groups remain one of the country’s main political and security issues.
