Belarusian and Afghan ambassadors meet in Tashkent, extensive proposals to expand bilateral cooperation

Alexander Sergeevich, Ambassador of Belarus to Tashkent, met with Sheikh Abdul Ghaffar Bahr, Ambassador of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to Uzbekistan.

In this meeting, the two sides emphasized strengthening friendly relations between Afghanistan and Belarus and expanding political and economic cooperation.

According to the official page of the Afghan Embassy in Tashkent on the social network X, the Belarusian side put forward several specific and practical proposals.

These proposals include introducing a non-resident representative of Belarus to Afghanistan to facilitate communications and pursue the establishment of a joint industrial working group between the two countries and cooperation in a powdered milk production project in the city of Termez, Uzbekistan.

Also, developing cooperation in the field of health and treatment, facilitating visa issuance for Afghan businessmen and traders, expanding consular cooperation, and active participation in important regional projects, including the Afghan Trans-TAPI (TAPI) and CASA-1000, were other issues raised by Belarus during this meeting.

These proposals demonstrate Belarus’ serious interest in deepening economic relations and greater presence in regional infrastructure and energy projects in which Afghanistan plays a pivotal role.

This meeting comes at a time when efforts are increasing to further connect Afghanistan to regional corridors and increase cooperation with neighboring and trans-regional countries.
